Kohl Kaplan Fountain

About the Fountain

A chorus of water, lights, and music, the glorious Kohl Kaplan Fountain welcomes Ravinia visitors at the main entrance to the park and engages them in the “Ravinia experience” from the moment of arrival. The fountain is nestled along the path of the popular Green Bay Trail, giving Ravinia the opportunity to not only offer the public a place to pause and feel present even when the park is closed, but also share musical interludes with those who use the trail. Created by WET Designs, the engineers behind installations at Lincoln Center, Water Tower Place, Navy Pier, the Bellagio, and around the world, the Kohl Kaplan Fountain was unveiled at Ravinia in 2016.

Ravinia thanks Dolores Kohl Kaplan and the late Morris Kaplan for their vision and generosity, which brought this fountain to life.

Performances at the Fountain

While the Kohl Kaplan Fountain regularly dances along to recorded music from late spring to early fall, starting in June and continuing throughout the 2022 summer season, Ravinia is creating casual live music encounters with a series of pop-up performances in front of the fountain.
