Ravinia is at its busiest during the summer, of course, with at least one concert nearly every day, but our stages don’t go silent once autumn rolls around—far from it! In addition to our Reach Teach Play® being in full swing with the school year, our indoor stages are host to two action-packed (long) weekends of concerts, one each in the fall and winter.
The Fall Series, which runs October 23–26, traverses all three halls—from an all-star string quartet in Bennett Gordon Hall to a cabaret in the sparkling-new Sandra K. Crown Theater—and the Winter Weekend runs December 4–7 with four holiday-themed performances, keeping the music flowing with concerts for adults and children in a diversity of styles.
Enjoy the Park Before the Concerts
At both series of concerts, guests can enjoy some of nature’s greatest performances before the music. With fall colors typically reaching their peak across mid- to late October in northern Illinois, the park will be open for sunset and twilight strolls among Ravinia’s nearly 50 varieties of trees and about 30 outdoor metal and stone sculptures, combined with refreshing small bites and curated sips from Ravinia’s Lawn Bar and Café. And under the crisp, dark skies of Highland Park—with the heated patio of the Lawn Bar and Café to fall back to—Ravinia will also be the perfect setting for a pre-concert bask in the glow of December’s Super Full Moon and stars, sparkling even more magically should the expansive Lawn be layered with snow.
With gear for every season and gifts for every reason, the Ravinia Festival Shop’s walk-in store is open alongside the snack stops both weekends, featuring signature apparel to bring back the coziness of summer. And just steps away in The Audrey (home of the Sandra K. Crown Theater), guests may visit a specially curated history space to explore snapshots and stories from more than a century of music-making while each venue gets revitalized for Ravinia’s upcoming 125th anniversary.
