Ravinia Festival is at its busiest during the summer, of course, with at least one concert nearly every day—frequently multiple in July and August, courtesy of the free matinee performances and master classes presented by the Steans Institute—but live music at Ravinia doesn’t come to a halt once autumn rolls around. Far from it. In addition to ongoing educational and other activities behind the scenes, the festival has regular public offerings as well, concentrated into one action-packed (long) weekend each in the fall and winter.
The Fall Series, which runs October 23–26, traverses all three indoor halls—from an all-star string quartet in Bennett Gordon Hall to a cabaret in the sparkling-new Sandra K. Crown Theater—and the Winter Weekend runs December 4–7 with four holiday-themed performances, keeping the music flowing with concerts for adults and children in a diversity of styles.
