About the Performance
Ravinia is grateful for media support from

For close to 40 years, Ziggy Marley has hewn his own path as a musical pioneer, infusing the reggae genre with funk, blues, rock and much more. The eldest son of Bob and Rita Marley, Ziggy’s musical output stands on its own, deftly exploring issues from environmental awareness to self-empowerment, social injustice to political inequity. An eight-time Grammy winner, Emmy winner, musician, producer, activist and humanitarian, Marley is equal parts master storyteller and motivational guide.
This spring, the visionary artist will release his latest work, Brightside, co-produced with his brother Stephen Marley and recorded alongside a host of longtime collaborators, including vocalist Nikka Costa, Trombone Shorty, Sheila E., and Jake Shimabukuro. Reflecting on the album, Marley shares, “You see what’s happening in the world, what’s happening to people, and it really brings me down. I realized the album was going to have an introspective side to it. [The music] became my therapy.”
Opening the night is Thievery Corporation, making their Ravinia debut. Known for their hypnotic grooves, global influences, and politically charged edge, they set the tone for a show that’s as immersive as it is unforgettable. Founding duo Rob Garza and Eric Hilton have always embodied a mashup of personalities, sounds, cultures, aiming to create something wholly unique. By not following trends or the whims of major labels, and embracing the cultural diversities that make the world such a wondrous place, Thievery Corporation has created a legacy that runs deep and continues to expand.
