About the Performance
A century ago, two legends of jazz were born: Miles Davis and John Coltrane. Today, two living legends—Terence Blanchard and Ravi Coltrane—come together to honor their musical legacy, a living celebration of the sound that reshaped modern music.
A true “Renaissance” man, Terrence Blanchard stands tall as one of jazz’s most-esteemed trumpeters and defies expectations by creating a spectrum of artistic pursuits. An eight-time Grammy Winner and twice Oscar-nominated film composer, Blanchard is recognized globally as a dazzling soloist and a prolific composer for film, television, opera, Broadway, orchestras and for his own ensembles. He is joined by critically acclaimed Grammy nominated saxophonist, bandleader, and composer Ravi Coltrane. The second son of John Coltrane and Alice Coltrane, Ravi has forged a distinctive voice that honors his lineage while charting his own expansive artistic path.
Together, Blanchard and Coltrane celebrate the centennial of Miles Davis and John Coltrane not with imitation, but with imagination—channeling the spirit of fearless exploration that defined both icons.
