When the lobby opens an hour before today’s performance, visit with writers from Poems While You Wait to commission a free, original poem on a theme of your choice. Read through the concert program for inspiration from today’s songs, or come prepared with your own idea!
Like Saturday’s mythological namesake, Saturn—the Roman deity of generation and abundance—our guest writers will divine poetic lines on your theme, artfully typewritten on a keepsake sheet to be picked up at the end of the concert.
The beginning of the livestream may be delayed while the in-person audience enters the venue or due to event production needs. Thank you for your patience.
Program and featured artists are subject to change. While we strive to keep the information on this page up-to-date, modifications may occur at the performance.
Recordings of livestreams are available on Ravinia’s YouTube channel later in the season. Some performances may be omitted due to licensing restrictions.
About the Performance
The Singers Program at the Steans Institute provides an exceptional opportunity for 15 classical vocalists to explore the rich world of art song. Fellows immerse themselves in diverse aspects of the repertoire, including style, technique, language, and performance. Throughout the program, fellows collaborate closely with a team of accomplished musicians and educators, gaining personalized mentorship that nurtures both artistic growth and career aspirations.
In addition to a series of public master classes that focus on growing the fellows’ experience and interpretations of specific repertoire, the musicians participate in several afternoon concerts presented during the summer, some with specially curated themes and others featuring repertoire selected by the performers.
