About the Performance
After celebrating National Farmers Market Week at the third annual Taste of Ravinia Farmers Market, make your way to the Carousel Stage for an enthralling evening of folk and bluegrass with Chicago’s own Henhouse Prowlers, plus special guests Almond&Olive, Noah’s Jam Jam Bourrée, and The Lucky Pickers!
With two decades proudly under their belts, the Prowlers' sight remains fixed on the future. Ever constant in the group's performances is their ability to showcase their passion for music and humanity. All four members possessing a knack for storytelling, compelling songwriting and intricate instrumentation, each offers the utmost artistic prowess, building on one another's magic night after night. Reverence for tradition coupled with willingness to explore beyond the ordinary lands the Prowlers in a category difficult to define but explosively intriguing around every bend.
To date, the Prowlers have toured 29 countries on 5 continents working with the U.S. State Dept and their own nonprofit, Bluegrass Ambassadors. The group's experiences with people and musicians across the globe have shaped their worldview and bolstered the bridges they establish between cultures. For this troupe, the work doesn't stop at music-making – they are actively striving toward a kinder world.
They are joined by Chicago duo Almond&Olive, whose inspiring songs span the folk and Americana genres while also incorporating the duo's timeless vocals and distinct songwriting. A&O's voices sound made for each other and guide their vulnerable storytelling through odysseys of hope, love, and loss.
The music A&O creates comes at you in waves. Together their voices lay down a solid base and tone, funneling you into succinct chorus melodies that build into a crescendo of rich and powerful harmonies. The end result of each song is satisfying and expressive, weaving together themes of love, fear, hope and loss.
