Location: 25 miles north of downtown Chicago in suburban Highland Park, along Chicago’s North Shore.
Programming: Founded in 1904, Ravinia is the oldest and most diverse summer music festival in North America, presenting over 100 concerts annually from mid-June through mid-September including classical, jazz, rock, pop, vocal, folk, world music, music theater, and dance performances. Ravinia also features a Kids Concert series that emulates the festival’s main-stage programming across a mix of genres and artists, all in a kid-friendly environment.
Attendance: More than half a million guests attend Ravinia annually, 70% of whom come from within 25 miles. Annually, Ravinia guests come from all over the world, including all 48 contiguous states, Canada, Mexico, and Europe. For a sold-out Pavilion performance, 13,000+ guests are in attendance. Approximately 75% of the audience is between 25 and 64 years of age, with an average household income of $169,000. Guests attend about two concerts per summer on average and double that for donors, bring about three other guests with them, and spend an average of three hours in the park.
Quality: Summer home of the esteemed Chicago Symphony Orchestra since 1936, Ravinia also regularly books the world’s finest conductors, soloists, and music ensembles. State-of-the-art sound systems provide both lawn and reserved-seat ticketholders the highest quality acoustics.
Ambiance: Ravinia is nestled in 36 acres of manicured woods and open meadow that can accommodate up to 10,000 guests in general admission and reserved spaces on the lawn. Guests on the North Lawn can also enjoy close-up and intimate performances throughout the season at our Carousel Stage. Ravinia features three performance venues with reserved seating: the magnificent open-air Pavilion, which seats 3,350, and two intimate indoor venues, the Martin Theatre and Bennett Gordon Hall, which seat 850 and 450, respectively. Located next to our Dining Pavilion, the Ravinia Music Box features an immersive musical encounter in an intimate 65-seat theater and two gallery spaces with interactive displays.
