Location: 25 miles north of downtown Chicago in suburban Highland Park, along Chicago’s North Shore.
Programming: Founded in 1904, Ravinia is the oldest and most diverse summer music festival in North America, presenting over 140 concerts annually from June through mid-September including classical, jazz, rock, pop, vocal, folk, world music, music theater, and dance performances. Ravinia also features a Kids Concert series that emulates the festival’s main-stage programming across a mix of genres and artists, all in a kid-friendly environment.
Attendance: More than half a million guests attend Ravinia annually, 67% of which come from within 25 miles. Annually, Ravinia guests came from all over the world, including all 48 contiguous states, Canada, Mexico, and Europe. For a sold-out Pavilion performance, 16,500+ guests are in attendance. Approximately 61% of the audience is between 25 and 54 years of age, with an average household income of $169,000. Guests attend between three and four concerts per summer on average, bring about three other guests with them, and spend nearly four hours in the park.

Ambiance: Ravinia is nestled in 36 acres of manicured woods and open meadow that can accommodate up to 13,000 guests in general admission on the lawn. Ravinia features three performance venues with reserved seating, the magnificent open-air Pavilion, which seats 3,200, and two intimate indoor venues, the Martin Theatre and Bennett Gordon Hall, which seat 850 and 450, respectively.
Education, Community, and Audience Development: Ravinia’s acclaimed Reach Teach Play® music education programs serve more than 85,000 students and community members each year. Ravinia works closely with Chicago Public Schools, the Chicago Park District, and many other nonprofits throughout the region to bring the gift of music to people throughout Cook and Lake Counties.
