Superstar pianist Lang Lang returns to the Chicago Symphony Orchestra for a captivating evening that celebrates the magical connection between animation and music in The Disney Book. This performance is an ode to the beloved Disney soundtracks that sparked Lang Lang’s early love for classical music, igniting his passion and creativity throughout his life.
Under the baton of Edwin Outwater, the CSO and Lang Lang are joined by an accomplished ensemble of guest soloists, each adding a unique layer of depth to the evening’s performance. Yimiao Chen, making her Ravinia and CSO debuts, brings the expressive sound of the erhu, a traditional Chinese instrument. Plínio Fernandes, also making his CSO debut, showcases the rich tones of the guitar, blending classical techniques with Latin influences. Celeste Morales and Edmond Rodriguez, both alumni of Ravinia’s Steans Institute, apply their considerable vocable talent to the beloved Disney tunes.
