About The Artist

This year awarded a Leonore Annenberg Fund Grant, violinist Tessa Lark has consistently earned accolades since she was a fellow at Ravinia’s Steans Music Institute (RSMI) in 2007 and 2008. She made her solo debut at Ravinia in 2012, the same year she won first prize in the Naumburg International Violin Competition and was spotlighted as Musical America’s “New Artist of the Month” for August, and she previously earned top prizes in the 2008 Irving M. Klein and 2009 Michael Hill competitions. Connecticut’s The Day observed that “she has the ability to take a musical score written 200 years ago and make it seem fresh and personal, as if written for her,” and the Boston Music Intelligencer has praised her “poignant, lyrical outpourings” as well as her “arsenal of virtuosic effects.”
