About The Artist

Called “the definition of the ideal musician for the 21st century” by Yo-Yo Ma, cellist Mike Block joins Rachel Barton Pine to chronicle the flow of music from Bach to Bartók to the blues. Their “Old World, New World” program draws from the vast ocean of music that inspires each of their broad repertoires, crossing continents and styles to include classical interpretations of folk music by Kodály and true fiddle music from Appalachia.
