A Legacy of Jazz and Poetry: Tribute to Oscar Brown Jr.
Ten years ago Maggie Brown shared a stage at Ravinia with her father, Oscar Brown Jr., a Chicago-native singer, songwriter and legend in the jazz scene who broke molds by setting original lyrics to instrumental standards. His daughter Maggie now carries on his legacy of song, poetry and history through her own one-woman shows in tribute to the man the Chicago Tribune says “never received a fraction of the recognition and fortune he deserved.”
