ARRIVAL FROM SWEDEN
Arrival is not only one of the hit albums created by the legendary Swedish pop band ABBA; it is also the name of Sweden’s most acclaimed cover band, renowned for not only sounding, but also looking, amazingly like the original group ABBA. Arrival from Sweden started out in 1995 as a trademark created by Vicky Zetterberg. Today it is the largest touring ABBA show in the world, having visited more than 20 nations, including the United States, Vietnam, China, the U.K., Australia, France, Holland and Sweden. The show is the only one in the world with exclusive rights to create identical copies of ABBA’s original clothing. During the past 12 years the show has grown from being six people on stage to becoming a large production with 12 performers. The sound of Arrival is so identical to that of ABBA that in an official testing on Swedish national radio, ABBA fans believed that Arrival’s “Dancing Queen” was in fact the original classic recording by ABBA. Arrival recently received the exclusive permission to perform and record the unreleased ABBA track “Just a Notion.” The band is part of the show “The Music of ABBA” that in the fall of 2007 went on a full-scale “Golden Tour” of Europe. The show included original ABBA musicians Finn Sjöberg (guitar) and Roger Palm (drums). They performed in original outfits and created a story around ABBA with the original musicians telling stories, but the show was of course primarily about the fantastic music of ABBA. Tonight Arrival from Sweden makes their second appearance at Ravinia Festival, where they first performed in 2007.
For the first time ever, Ravinia will remove several rows of seats
in front of the stage to install a dance floor inside the pavilion.
Dance-area tickets are sold out, but you can always dance on the lawn,
so you can still be the Dancing Queen—or King!
An artist signing is scheduled after the performance in front of the dining pavilion.
