She made her Ravinia debut as a Rising Star in 1991. By the time she returned as a soloist with the Chicago Symphony Orchestra in 2000, she had leapt to national attention with her 1994 Carnegie Hall debut at the age of 16. Two years after her 2006 Martin Theatre recital—like her Rising Stars performance, a collaboration with pianist John Novacek—she became the recipient of a prestigious MacArthur Foundation “Genius Grant” Fellowship. Here’s your chance to examine her artistry in exquisite close-up in the superb acoustics of Ravinia’s intimate Bennett • Gordon Hall with her long-time collaborator praised by the Los Angeles Times as “at once brilliant and unobtrusive.”
