About The Artist

Three-time Grammy Award-winning singer-songwriter, New York Times best selling poet, and critically acclaimed actress are only a few titles held by Jill Scott. The platinum-selling triple threat began her career collaborating with musical icons, The Roots, Will Smith, and Common in the late 90’s and has garnered #1 albums that include The Light In The Sun and her most recent release, WOMAN.

Never limited to music, Jill Scott is a true renaissance woman and her artistry extends across books, clothing, TV and film.  In addition to various standout film/TV roles, she was the lead in the Peabody Award-winning HBO/BBC mini-series, The No.1 Ladies Detective Agency and penned the New York Times bestseller, The Moments, The Minutes, The Hours.  Plus she founded the Blue Babe Foundation that offers scholarships & mentoring programs for the most underserved communities of North Philadelphia and Camden.  Most recently, Jill received a 2017 Grammy nomination in the "Best Traditional R&B Performance" category for her single, "Can't Wait”.

Formed in 1987 in Philadelphia, The Roots—consisting of Black Thought, Ahmir “?uestlove” Thompson, Kamal Gray, F. Knuckles, Captain Kirk Douglas, Damon Bryson, and James Poyser—was most recently nominated for Best Rap Album for their 2011 album undun, bringing the band’s Grammy nomination count to 12.
