Christoph Eschenbach will be unable to conduct the Chicago Symphony Orchestra at Ravinia on July 28 due to illness. James Conlon will instead lead the CSO in a program comprising Mendelssohn’s “Italian” Symphony (in place of his “Reformation” Symphony), that composer’s Violin Concerto with soloist Ray Chen, Barber’s Knoxville: Summer of 1915 with soprano Marisol Montalvo, and Mozart’s “L’amerò sarò costante” for soprano and violin, featuring both Ms. Montalvo and Mr. Chen.
Ravinia offers its deepest appreciation to Maestro Conlon and wishes a quick recovery to Maestro Eschenbach.
Thank you for your understanding. Enjoy the concert!
