Program Notes

Making his Ravinia debut following an appearance on Rising Stars five years ago, Bryan Wallick will showcase his winning talent with four transcriptions by Liszt from the opera scores of Verdi and Wagner. The Cincinnati Enquirer has observed that he “possesses a naturally singing tone, an ability to project emotion and to play with command effortlessly”—a fitting technique for translating vocal masterworks to the piano. Wallick also traverses the myriad styles of the American idiom in Barber’s Excursions as well as the music found between East and West in Debussy’s Estampes for a well-traveled program.
