Howard Shore: Lord of the Rings—The Two Towers

(with complete film and lawn screen)

Program Notes

Never has a CSO concert been so highly demanded by Ravinia audiences. Following the sensational success of 2011’s sold-out presentations of the first installment of the Hobbit-forming The Lord of the Rings with live orchestral accompaniment, Ravinia continues the saga with the second film of the series, The Two Towers, again with the impressive symphonic score by Academy Award-winning composer Howard Shore performed by America’s finest orchestra. Director Peter Jackson’s mind-boggling visual universe of men, elves, dwarves, sorcerers, monsters and epic battles will blaze across giant screens in the pavilion and on the lawn for two evenings of transcendental story-telling and superlative music-making. Middle Earth never sounded this good!
