"Art is God made manifest - It enobles the human race." Franz Liszt
After the death of Richard Wagner, an aging Franz Liszt in reverie recounts his many loves -- parents, piano, composing, conducting, lovers, children, students, priesthood, his native Hungary, and in the telling prepares himself for his own death: "The artist is a bearer of the beautiful, he is like a priest ministering to his congregation."
Music selections include a broad spectrum of the virtuosic Liszt to some of his most intimate late period works, and the rarely heard melodrama for speaker and piano, THE SAD MONK.
