Joshua Bell, Violin
The brilliant young musicians from America’s largest music conservatory are showcased in a dazzling spectrum of colorful music, from Dukas’s “Sorcerer’s Apprentice” (best-known from Walt Disney’s iconic animated version in Fantasia) to the blazing hues of Stravinsky’s Firebird Suite and Ives’s delightfully humorous Variations on America. Superstar violinist Joshua Bell, who earned his artist diploma from Indiana University, then takes the stage for the Ravinia premiere of Bruch’s lyrical celebration of Scottish folktunes and violin virtuosity.
