|Beethoven:||Violin Sonata No. 10|
|Brahms:||Scherzo (from “F-A-E” Sonata)|
|Schumann:||Intermezzo (from “F-A-E” Sonata)|
RSMI alum Stella Chen returns to Ravinia in a program celebrating the power of collaboration between musicians, transcending style, genre, and time. Opening with Stravinsky’s balletic ode to Pergolesian style and closing with Waxman’s devilishly difficult fantasy on themes from Bizet’s Carmen, the program also features Beethoven’s final sonata for violin and piano. These masterpieces are interspersed with Brahms’s Scherzo and Schumann’s Intermezzo from perhaps one of the greatest and most intriguing collaborations of all time, the F-A-E Sonata, written as a gift for their friend, the celebrated violinist Joseph Joachim.
