Following his seven-date Broadway stand in May, Morrissey is back on tour with his newest album, California Son, a collection of ’60s and ’70s pop covers, released just days after leaving New York’s Lunt-Fontanne Theater. The disc’s first radio single, a rendition of the Fifth Dimension hit “Wedding Bell Blues” with guest vocalists Billie Joe Armstrong of Green Day and Lydia Night of The Regrettes, provides a taste of the Britpop icon’s 12-track album that also includes Joni Mitchell’s “Don’t Interrupt the Sorrow,” Bob Dylan’s “Only a Pawn in Their Game” and Carly Simon’s “When You Close Your Eyes” with guest Petra Haden, and Dionne Warwick’s “Loneliness Remembers What Happiness Forgets.”
One of the groups on the leading edge of the post-punk revival at the turn of the millennium, Interpol jumped back into action last summer with Marauder and is following it up with a new EP, A Fine Mess. Its first single, “The Weekend,” is out now.
