Midori, ViolinOzgur Aydin, Piano
One of the great violin phenomena of our time, Midori (she uses only her first name professionally) began violin studies at the age of 4, made her public debut at 7, and in 1981 was discovered at Aspen by Pinchas Zukerman, who said to the audience after her performance, “Ladies and gentlemen, I don't know about you, but I have just witnessed a miracle!” Zukerman later conducted her 1987 debut at Ravinia, where she has remained a favorite ever since. Here is a rare chance to hear her breathtaking virtuosity up close in the intimate surroundings of the Martin Theatre. “Her technical facility is limitless, and she applies it with a rare wisdom and sensibility.” —Detroit NewsBeethoven: Sonata in A Minor, Op. 23Bloch: Sonata No. 2 ("Poème mystique")Szymanowski: Miti ("Myths"), Op. 30 Brahms: Sonata No. 3 in D Minor, Op. 108
