About The Artist

The dynamic independent orchestra The Knights returns to Ravinia for the fifth straight summer. The New Yorker observes that “few ensembles are as adept at mixing old music with new,” and that talent will be showcased when brilliant soprano Dawn Upshaw rejoins them on the Martin Theatre stage for two laments by Renaissance composer John Dowland and Maria Schneider’s 2014 Grammy-winning song cycle Winter Morning Walks. The program also includes a suite of member Michael Atkinson’s arrangements of works by singer-songwriter Sufjan Stevens.
