Sponsorship

Salute to Sponsors

Every year, Ravinia plays host to the beauty of nature, the joy of great music, and the harmony of satisfied audiences. We owe this, of course, to nature’s cooperation and the talent of the performers, but we also recognize the generosity of our sponsors, whose support helps us to bring these performers to Ravinia and keep admission prices low. Corporate, foundation and individual sponsors have contributed to bring you almost every performance this season, and we salute their ongoing efforts to support the many performing arts institutions we enjoy in Chicago.

UBS is pleased to support another season of memorable music at the Ravinia Festival this summer. At its core, the Ravinia Festival is a collection of people who possess a steadfast dedication to their craft and whose tireless precision brings about the best performance possible. UBS is proud to be the Lead Sponsor of Ravinia, not just because we are fans, but because we share this common trait: a refusal to allow good enough to be good enough.

The firm's cultural sponsorships build upon our long history of supporting the arts around the globe. In addition to sponsoring the Ravinia Festival, which hosts the Grammy Award-winning Chicago Symphony Orchestra in its summer residency, the firm currently sponsors several outstanding orchestras and festivals nationally and abroad.

In addition, UBS strengthens relationships with local organizations, while focusing on education and creativity, through grants and volunteer initiatives. UBS partners with over 60 non-profit organizations in the Chicago area. Our philanthropic focus is on education and finding ways to engage students in after-school programs. Additionally, our employees volunteer their time and talent in a wide array of nonprofits throughout the region. Giving back is an important part of our culture at UBS as we believe the lasting success of the firm is linked to the well-being of the communities where we live and work.

On behalf of our firm, we hope you enjoy visiting Ravinia and experiencing some of the finest music Chicago has to offer.

She was a woman of energy and grace, and her passion for the arts has left an enduring impact on several arts organizations throughout Chicago. She will be missed tremendously and forever remembered for helping to bring the festival to where it is today. The Women’s Board of Ravinia Festival

The Women's Board, since 1962, has promoted Ravinia Festival through a wide range of initiatives, from enhancing audiences' enjoyment of the Festival experience to furthering appreciation of music and the arts to educating young performers, gifted or simply enthusiastic. This broad-based mission of the Women's Board is accomplished through highly successful fundraising and the commitment of its dynamic volunteers.

The annual Women's Board Gala will be held on Saturday evening, July 23, 2011, celebrating the 75th Anniversary of George Gershwin's historic Ravinia debut in 1936, the same year in which the Chicago Symphony Orchestra established residency at Ravinia. Contributions towards this event will help the Women's Board support Ravinia and its REACH*TEACH*PLAY educational programs. The Gala enables Ravinia to continue its commitment to bringing music education to over 15,000 students and providing live performances and performance opportunities to nearly 75,000 individuals in the Chicago neighborhoods.

The Women's Board is honored to sponsor the July 31 Tchaikovsky Spectacular concert accompanied with live cannons and James Conlon conducting the Chicago Symphony Orchestra.

From our courting days on the lawn, 61 seasons later, Ravinia is still where you will find us most of the summer. Although we have graduated to seats in the pavilion and Martin Theatre, now and then we still picnic on the lawn with our grandchildren and their parents. The Steans Music Institute has become an integral part of our Ravinia experience. The concerts given by these talented young musicians from all over the world are not only exciting, but assure one that classical music is alive and well—and so is Ravinia, Amen!

I am proud to be involved with the Ravinia Festival. Chicagoland is fortunate to have such an incredible venue in which to experience an amazing array of artists. It is great watching friends and family create lasting memories picnicking on the lawn and enjoying the music together. My family and I are looking forward to many wonderful evenings together at the park this summer.

June B. Pinsof and Madeleine P. Plonsker

Like mother, like daughter. Ravinia has always played a vital cultural role in the lives of June Pinsof and Madeleine Plonsker. They both feel that having been given Ravinia's gratifying gift of music and dance over the last 60 years, it is important to find a way to give back. June has been supporting concerts in the Martin Theatre on an annual basis for the last decade, and Madeleine will be sponsoring her second consecutive Bennett Gordon Hall concert this summer. This year they added a new dimension to their giving by jointly helping to support Ravinia's participation in the Kartemquin Films production of "A Good Man," a film that will air this fall on American Masters about the creative process behind Bill T. Jones' Ravinia-commissioned Lincoln-themed dance piece, Fondly Do We Hope… Fervently Do We Pray. Both Madeleine and June feel that the unfading beauty of time is a well-fed musical mind.

According to my sister, everyone needs a library card and a membership to a health club. Sound mind, sound body. To that I'd add, everyone needs a little Ravinia in the summer. Growing up within blocks of Ravinia, I loved the music I heard on summer afternoons as the musicians rehearsed for each night's performance. The music helped shape the community and brought friends together on summer nights. At Midtown Athletic Clubs, we're committed to creating places that bring family and friends together to exercise, swim, play tennis, play basketball, dine, shop, relax and socialize with friends. Our clubs promote and support our members' active, healthy lifestyles and are engaging communities of fun people. Located in Bannockburn, Chicago, Oak Park, Palatine and Willowbrook, they are sports resorts right here at home. As a sponsor, Midtown takes pride in supporting the Ravinia Festival community as an extension of our philosophy to engage in a healthy and sound lifestyle.
