Ravinia’s Education Programs Stimulate Learning
Ensuring that schoolchildren benefit from music lies at the heart of Ravinia’s education mission. The Music Discovery Program serves hundreds of K-3rd grade classrooms in Chicago Public Schools, providing resident teaching artists, unique music education programs and training for teachers.

Schools involved in the Music Discovery Program can now publish examples of their projects (the plans, outcomes, audio and video files) to their own set of web-pages here on the Ravinia site. Click the School names on the left to see some examples of unique music projects from the 2008-2009 school years.

Our Guest Artist in the Classroom program features live performances in schools. Ravinia presents today’s brightest up-and-coming classical musicians in our Rising Stars Series. These artists are offering at least one school or community-based performance in addition to their Festival engagement. In this way the joy of experiencing high quality live performance is offered to those whom otherwise might not have such an experience. Children as young as five, junior high and high school music students and music lovers of all ages are enjoying these programs.
